Tony Stewart and Lewis Hamilton don’t have a lot in common, aside from being sponsored by Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil. Stewart drives for Stewart-Haas Racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, while Hamilton races for McLaren Mercedes (this year, anyway) in Formula One, which are entirely different sports on (mostly) different continents.

The pair have previously appeared in ads for Mobil 1, including a 2011 promotion where they swapped rides at Watkins Glen for a few hot laps. While not exactly best friends, Stewart and Hamilton are at least aware of each other’s achievements.

That’s not to say they aren’t rivals in a different arena, namely fan appreciation. The video above, which features Tony Stewart welcoming Lewis Hamilton to the U.S. for the upcoming United States Grand Prix, builds on an earlier video that had Stewart and Hamilton competing for fan adoration. For your amusement, we’ve included that video below.

We’re pretty sure Hamilton will give up his Mobil 1 sponsorship when he leaves McLaren Mercedes at the end of the 2012 season. That’s a shame, because we’ve grown to like the odd chemistry between Stewart and Hamilton in their Mobil 1 advertising.

We suppose Mobil 1 will just substitute Jenson Button for Lewis Hamilton in future videos, but we just can’t imagine him pulling off the same dry sense of humor.
