Lexus believes its new-for-2013 ES sedan is the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and style. Inspired by the ES, Lexus is kicking off a Facebook competition that will help provide startup funding for four new products that also blend design and technology.

Lexus Ignition will ask Facebook users to choose one of two products paired off against each other in weekly competition. At the end of each week’s voting, the winning product will receive up to $25,000 in funding, courtesy of Lexus.

Of the contest, Lexus’ vice president of marketing, Brian Smith, said, “With the new 2013 Lexus ES, we continue to push the boundaries of style, technology and innovation, and we are motivated to support other creative projects that exemplify this philosophy.”

Rather than picking winners itself, Lexus is leaving the decision up to its social community. This week, the contest pits the SolarPOP sun-powered mobile device charger against the Stabil-i pocket-sized video stabilization case for smartphones.

Other products to be voted on in future pairings include a Carbon Fiber Folding Electric Bike; the spnKiX M scooter; the Botiful X “personal telepresence robot;” SOLOSHOT, a motion-tracking mobile video recorder mount; Vers 2Q, a Bluetooth stereo system in a wooden cabinet and the Urban Fidelity Airflow mini speaker system.
