Almost as famous as the human characters, the cars that have starred in numerous James Bond movies over the years often live on in our memories long after the plot line or even the actors are forgotten.

Some notable mentions include the Rolls-Royce Phantom III from Goldfinger, the Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me, and the most famous of all Bond cars, the Aston Martin DB5.

The classic speedster has so far featured in five Bond movies and with the release of the latest movie, Skyfall, that tally will grow to six.

This latest video shows us the importance of the DB5 to the creators of the latest movie, and even reveals a few moments with the car on set.

There’s a lot to like about the DB5, including the car’s timeless good looks and sheer elegance. If that’s not enough, its ejection seat, twin machine guns, armor plating, rocket launchers and oil slick generators certainly add to its charm. There may be faster cars on the road, but there aren’t many more difficult to overtake, which is one reason why the original movie car sold for $4.1 million in 2010.

Other cars confirmed to appear in latest Bond movie include the long-wheelbase Jaguar XJ L, classic Land Rover Defender, and the new Range Rover Evoque crossover. Daniel Craig returns in the starring role, and former Stig Ben Collins is responsible for much of the driving stunts.

The movie’s release in the U.S. is scheduled for November 9.
