Mercedes' new SL Class didn't get the warmest reception from the press as a whole, but we thought it looked pretty sharp. The AMG version, the 2013 SL 63, takes the new SL's look to a new level--and one that's even better suited to our tastes.

While it has a good bit of the AMG flair, it's not over the top, and the additional work at the front, sides, and rear does something to make the car more coherent as a whole, tying the somewhat busy nose in with the plainer sides and tail. Dressed in a nice coat of matte grey paint, it looks ready for business--whether that's cutting through the niceties in a board room or cutting through the traffic on a mountain pass.

AMG's treatment of the already excellent SL-Class interior is as expected: a healthy dose of carbon fiber, a racier wheel, and some nice two-tone leather upholstery.
