Just a few weeks back we brought you news that Volvo dealers will offer Polestar performance software for select models equipped with the T5 five-cylinder gasoline turbo engine.

On T5 models, Polestar software will net you 23 more horsepower and 29 more pound-feet of torque, all for the reasonable dealer-installed price of $1,295.

Now comes word that the Swedish automaker will offer a Polestar performance software package to owners of select T6-engined vehicles, too.

The six-cylinder turbo T6 models will gain 25 horsepower and 30 pound-feet of torque with the upgrade, which raises horsepower to 325 horsepower and torque to 354 pound-feet. The price of the software upgrade is a slightly more expensive $1,495, installed.

The upgrade is available for the 2011-12 XC60, S60 and XC70 when equipped with the T6 engine. As with the Polestar upgrade to the T5 engine, fuel economy is unchanged and the vehicle’s powertrain warranty is unaffected.

Could Volvo’s recent activity with Polestar be an indication that a separate performance division, similar to Nissan’s Nismo or Chrysler’s SRT, is still in the works? We certainly hope so.
