Shedding its funky, lego-man exterior for a sleeker, Touring Superleggera-designed skin, Gumpert has moved past the Apollo and on to the Tornante. It's an upgrade, and it goes deeper than the surface. About 220 pounds lighter than the Apollo thanks in part of a carbon monocoque and composite body panels, but with 25 percent more interior space and luggage room, the Tornante is the Gumpert for those that don't want to sacrifice performance too much, but would rather not live with a street-legal race car. Total weight of the Tornante checks in between 2,870 and 3,090 pounds, depending on the...

2011 Volksagen-Italdesign Tex Concept Live Photos: 2011 Geneva Motor ShowYes, it may look a bit like an Isuzu Impulse, but it's actually one of two takes on the next-generation of Volkswagen small cars: the Italdesign Giugiaro Tex Concept. We think it has a bit of Scirocco in it, too, and that's certainly not a bad thing. It also has a bit of a plug-in hybrid...

Subaru Boxer RWD Sports Car Preview: 2011 Geneva Motor ShowThe Toyota FT-86 II is soaking up yet more autoshow limelight, despite having been little more than a circuit regular for over a year now. Subaru's version of the rear-drive platform looks at least as promising, and about half as ... awkward. Sporting a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated boxer engine...

The official press photos looked promising, and judging by these live photos, Kia has followed through on the promise. Sporting a...

Porsche 1900 Semper Vivus Hybrid Live Photos: 2011 Geneva Motor ShowRecreating the past isn't something you often think of when hybrid or electric vehicles are the topic of discussion, but Porsche did exactly that for the Geneva Motor Show, unveiling a painstaking recreation of the 111-year-old Semper Vivus, the first fully-functional full-hybrid car ever built...

2011 Volkswagen Bulli Concept Live Photos: 2011 Geneva Motor ShowThe bus is back! Well, sort of, anyway. The Volkswagen Bulli Concept shows that VW hasn't forgotten its long-cube roots. It may even be planning a revisitation of them. This all-electric concept certainly points toward an intriguing vision of what that might look like. Despite its microbus...

2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid Live Photos: 2011 Geneva Motor ShowA couple of weeks ago, we made the case that the 2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid is the best value in the performance/luxury hybrid game, despite its $95,900 starting price. We stand by that analysis, as the new Panamera S Hybrid even manages to look good--as good as any Panamera, anyway--in the...

Full details on the 2011 Audi RS3 have been out for months now, including its brawny yet compact 340-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder engine, but today in Geneva, we got a good look at the car in person. It looks, well, hot, as a true hot hatch--even super-hatch--should. At a sturdy 3,472 pounds, it's no lightweight, but the quattro all-wheel drive and potent powerplant still rocket the car to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds and on to an electronically-limited 155 mph top speed. Aggressive body treatments, including two gaping maws flanking a mesh grille, give the RS3 the...

2011 Alfa Romeo 4C Concept Live Photos: 2011 Geneva Motor ShowPacking the beauty of Alfa's 8C Competizione into a much smaller package, the itty-bitty Alfa Romeo 4C Concept is 200 horsepower of 1.75-liter turbo four-cylinder goodness wrapped in mid-engine KTM X-Bow handling with a frothy Italian topping. We want it. Fortunately, Alfa is going to build it for...

Jason Castriota's influence as the head of design at Saab is now readily apparent: the PhoeniX Concept bears all the markings of his brilliant mind. It also looks decidedly like a Saab. But more than looking like a Saab in the traditional sense, it likely outlines the future of the company's direction. Sure some of the more flamboyant concept-only elements will fall away, but the core thesis of flowing lines, aerodynamic slipperiness, and muscular proportion could remain. We're looking forward to see what's next in the production plan. For more on the PhoeniX Concept, catch our preview here.

MINI Rocketman Concept Live Photos: 2011 Geneva Motor ShowPositioned as a curious "3+1" seater with three doors and a scant 10-foot overall length, the 2011 MINI Rocketman concept is one MINI that’s actually mini. It’s currently only a design study, though it certainly looks like it could be promoted to the big leagues if the reception is warm...
