If you’re one of the (reportedly) few Americans who prefer station wagons over crossovers, and have a penchant for German cars, here’s some good news: a new configurator site allows you to build the 2014 BMW 3-Series Sport Wagon of your dreams, priced from $42,445 (including an $895 destination charge).

If your dream includes rear-wheel drive, six-cylinder or diesel power, however, prepare to be disappointed. For now, BMW is only showing xDrive wagons with the gasoline-powered, turbocharged 2.0-liter engine on its site, even though it’s debuting the 3-Series diesel sedan in New York this week.

A diesel engine will reportedly be offered for U.S. Sport Wagons later this year, and it’s believed that rear-drive versions will be sold here as well. Until then, all the Sport Wagons you can build on BMW’s configurator site are 328i xDrive models.

Spending $42,445 gets you an Alpine White or Jet Black wagon with leatherette upholstery and no options. At the other end of the range, a loaded-up M Sport 328i xDrive Sport Wagon would price out at $59,620, which gives you an idea of the 3-Series wagon’s current U.S. price range.

In between these extremes are Luxury Line, Modern Line and Sport Line trims, which can be configured with a wide array of packages and options, based upon a buyer’s needs and expectations. Each comes with BMW’s Ultimate Service, which includes four years or 50,000 miles worth of free service, warranty coverage and roadside assistance.
