Expect to see more of the same when Iron Man 3 hits theaters on May 3. As Audi tells us, the brand will once again be featured throughout the film, with perhaps a bit more tact than Mercedes-Benz displayed in the latest “Die Hard” film.
In the words of Loren Angelo, Audi of America’s general manager of brand marketing, “Audi is excited to once again showcase the brand’s cutting edge technology and sleek design with the Audi R8 e-tron in Marvel’s Iron Man 3. This is a strategic collaboration for us.”
Drawing a parallel between the R8 and the Tony Stark character, Angelo explains that both are “innovation leaders,” that “consistently evolve” to “mastermind new trends in technology and engineering.” In our eyes, though, the Audi R8 lacks the character flaws that make Tony Stark appealing, albeit in a somewhat repulsive manner.
In addition to the Audi R8 e-tron, the Audi S7 Sportback gets screen time as the daily driver of Tony Stark’s love interest, Pepper Potts. If you’re wondering what happened to Stark’s Acura NSX Roadster, we suppose he only drives that when he’s working for The Avengers.
Look for Robert Downey Jr. to reprise his role as Tony Stark, while Gwyneth Paltrow is back as the indomitable Ms. Potts.
