Tim Birkin's record-setting Blower Bentley is a rolling, running, racing piece of history. It's also the most expensive Bentley ever purchased at auction as of last weekend. This video shows the sale from the perspective of Bonhams, the auction house that sold it.

Birkin's 1929 4 1/2 Litre Bentley had already set its own record--an average speed of 137 mph at Brookland's outer circuit. The new record required nearly was much intestinal fortitude, and a much larger pocketbook.

Narrated by James Knight, group director of the Bonhams motoring department, this video traces the course of the sale at auction, which took place yesterday at Goodwood.
