  • 2010 Paris Auto Show: Volvo C30 DRIVe Electric

    Volvo has some ambitious plans for the future. In addition to the market launch of a plug-in hybrid in 2012, work is currently under way on evaluating the viability of an entirely electric-powered car and now we can add hydrogen-powered fuel cells to that list--but with a twist. Volvo is investigating the use of fuel cells as a means of generating power in a range-extended electric vehicle. Backed by research support from the Swedish Energy Agency, Volvo is hoping to have two prototype vehicles based on the C30 DRIVe electric vehicle in testing by 2012.
