If you're in Manhattan, now is the time to forgo that taxi ride in a Nissan NV or Ford Crown Vic. Instead, you should pull out your smartphone and order up an Uber. You might just find that you're about to be shuttled to your destination in a McLaren P1. A bonus here is that the ride will be free too.

There's a new show on National Geographic called Breakthrough, and it's using Uber to promote the show. According to Mashable, the deal runs from October 27-30. You have to be in Manhattan, below 59th street, and the rides are being offered from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Enter the code "BREAKTHROUGH", and you're going to get a treat. Now, you can't specifically request a McLaren P1, but you have a good chance of getting a ride in something interesting even if that British beast doesn't show up. Uber is also using a BMW i8, Tesla Model S, some solar-powered prototype vehicles, a Porsche Cayenne that drinks biodiesel, and a number of other rides.

It's a fun way to promote a new show, as we imagine the McLaren P1 is going to get more than a few stares while in NYC. It's going to be photographed, tweeted, instagrammed, facebooked... and reported on, by plenty of outlets.
