Jaguar Land Rover’s SVR badge can already be found on the Range Rover Sport SUV, and soon it will appear on the F-Type sports car, but the British automaker has much more ambitious plans for its fledgling performance brand. Only yesterday we learned about a Range Rover Evoque SVR and now we have more details on another SVR model in the works, the XE SVR.

We’ve already reported on the XE SVR and how it will most likely feature Jaguar Land Rover’s venerable supercharged 5.0-liter V-8. However, according to Autocar, the XE SVR won’t be the only XE variant to feature this engine. The British publication reports that there will be an XE R equipped with a 495-horsepower version of the supercharged V-8 as well as the XE SVR with perhaps as much as 550 hp on tap.

The XE R will target cars like the BMW M3, Cadillac ATS-V and Mercedes-AMG C63, while the XE SVR will go after more potent offerings such as the rumored M4 GTS and eventual Black Series version of the new C63. And since the XE SVR would be developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicles Operations personalization department, it would be a more bespoke offering perhaps including more track-focused mods and carbon fiber in its construction.

Unfortunately, it might be some time until we see the hotter XEs. Jaguar has a very busy schedule ahead of it, with the complete rollout of the regular XE yet to be completed and the new XF and F-Pace also due. A high-level source at Jaguar told Autocar that the automaker will be busy for the next 18 months but after that it will be time to invest in additional products, like the XE R and XE SVR as well as new XF R and XF SVR models and even an SVR-enhanced version of the F-Pace.
