Unable to ski at present because of an injury, Swedish adventure skier Jon Olsson has come up with another way to hit the slopes: behind the wheel of a 600-horsepower prototype race car. As the video above shows, Olsson drives up the mountain in the prototype, which is actually his street-legal Rebellion R2k built for last year’s Gumball 3000 rally.

The Rebellion R2k is based on the underpinnings of an Ultima GTR, the ultimate street-legal race car, and features a V-8 engine spinning the rear wheels. It weighs just 2,200 pounds and as mentioned above it comes with 600 horses to play with. Olsson concedes that he had the car fitted with 315 wide winter tires. Still, he originally considered using an Audi RS 6 but determined that would be too easy knowing how good the all-wheel-drive Audi sledgehammer is on snow. We’re glad he changed his mind.

“This crazy idea turned out to be one of the most exciting mornings that I have ever had,” Olsson said in a statement. “Pushing full gas while sliding sideways on the top of an empty mountain while the sun is just dipping over the horizon is just hard to beat."

Olsson once again is planning to take part in the Gumball 3000 rally, which this year carries the title From Miami to Ibiza. In between, participants will also be hitting the streets of Atlanta, New York, Edinburgh, London, Paris and Barcelona.
