Jaguar’s all-new XE is still almost 24 months away from hitting showrooms here in the U.S. but to keep interest alive the automaker already has a configurator for the car up and running on its website. Being so far out from showrooms, there aren’t many options or accessories to add but you do get an idea of the variants that will be available at launch and some of the colors that will be offered.

The variants include a base XE powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine; the same base XE but with an R-Sport performance package; and a sporty XE S with a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6. At present we only have details on the XE S, which is confirmed to offer 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque.

Further down the track we’re expecting a high-performance XE SVR model to join the lineup, complete with V-8 power. And at some point we may even see a fuel-efficient hybrid or diesel XE.

All XEs will come with an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Customers will have the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive, and to aid handling Jaguar has developed some pretty sophisticated suspension technology as well as a new traction control system dubbed All Surface Progress Control.
