Moab Easter Jeep Safari - Jeep Cherokee Dakar

Moab Easter Jeep Safari - Jeep Cherokee Dakar

Every Easter, Jeeps and other four-wheel-drive vehicles from around the country descend on Moab, Utah, for the Moab Easter Jeep Safari. Continuing an annual tradition, Jeep has teased two concept models of the six it plans to show at this year's event, which runs from April 12-20. The first vehicles, the Jeep Wrangler MOJO and Jeep Cherokee Dakar, explore different takes on the off-roading theme, with several distinctive features visible in Jeep's two teaser images.

The Cherokee Dakar is perhaps the most striking. As standard, the Cherokee's looks are an acquired taste--but it's gained a heap more aggression in its Dakar transformation. Shown in profile view only, Jeep's image hints at wide, bolt-on arches and greatly increased ground clearance. A set of high-performance springs and shocks is likely--more than a little visible in the raised arches--and tough off-road wheels wrapped in chunky treaded tires will also make an appearance. Red detailing abounds, both on the wheels and window surrounds--as well as front and rear tow hooks.

Jeep's Wrangler MOJO concept appears less of a departure from the standard car, but the bright orange paintwork and tan-colored roof will be hard to miss. The tan detailing is replicated on the bead-lock wheel rims, while matte black accents and a black front grille contrast with the orange body. The stylized teaser image also appears to suggest a built-in winch on the car's front bumper. Jeep will release further images and details on all six cars next week, closer to the event itself.
