The simple pleasure of throwing the top down on a convertible and going for a drive is one that everyone with a license should experience. The sights, the sounds, the sun on your face, and the wind whipping your carefully-styled locks into a tangled psychotic frenzy of hair...ah yes, not everyone enjoys that final one.

Luckily, Porsche has your back. Or rather your hair, reveals 4 Wheels News, as its latest patent helps deflect some of that wind rush around your long, flowing mane. You and your passenger will now reach your destination completely unruffled.

Something like that, anyway. The patent drawings show a detachable deflector mounted behind the headrest, sending air around, and in a few images, over each seat. It isn't clear which models will receive the device--though logic suggests the Boxster and convertible versions of the 911 will both offer it as an option--nor is it clear quite what the attachment does for over-the-shoulder visibility.

In some respects, using such deflectors could improve rear visibility, allowing deletion of the traditional upright, behind-the-seats wind deflector. And indeed, by preventing your own hair whipping your eyeballs into submission...
