There are muscle cars, and then there's the Equus Bass 770. Luxurious, meticulously machined, and impressively potent, it's a mash-up of the best of the muscle car world, filtered through modern technology and performance.

The 2014 BMW M3 has only just been detailed with preliminary technical specifications, but our spies have already snapped shots of a crash on the Nürburgring. Fortunately, the car wasn't too badly mashed and the driver appears to be OK.

Ferrari's hybrid hypercar, the LaFerrari, was also spied in testing on the Nürburgring, but without the M3's guardrail-riding antics. It's not gunning for a top production car lap time just yet, but it's certainly going to be a contender.

You'll find all of this and more in today's car news headlines from around the High Gear Media network, right here at Motor Authority.
