For the first time in its history, Audi will sell all of its S Models in the United States, giving buyers on these shores the chance to sample all of the brand’s race-derived luxury performance wares.

To highlight this, Audi will launch a new television commercial for the S8 during tonight’s kick off of the 2012 NFL season. The minute-long spot, entitled “Suspect,” asks viewers if they can believe everything that they see.

In homage to classic heist films (like Ronin, which starred an Audi S8 alongside Robert De Niro), the video features an impatient driver, an armored car delivering money to a bank, plenty distractions and an Audi S8. Are you witnessing a robbery about to go down, or are you just witnessing a man marking time before he can resume driving his S8?

In addition to airtime during NFL games, you’ll see the spot on cable channels including Food, FX, National Geographic, ESPN, USA, AMC and CNN. A shorter, 30 second spot will also debut online.

Unlike GM, which announced it was dropping expensive Super Bowl advertising in favor of more expensive English football (our soccer) club sponsorship, Audi will be back with its sixth-consecutive Super Bowl ad for next year’s game.

Under development by Venables Bell & Partners, we’re sure the spot will prove as entertaining as last year’s “Vampire Party” ad.
