Making tons of money for being really good at what you do is one of the natural rewards of living in the U.S., especially if what you do is play NFL football. Unfortunately, buying and wrecking expensive sports cars while under the influence is increasingly becoming one of the natural rewards as well.

Or at least it's natural for Eric Wright, cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to a report from the L.A. Times (via CBS Sports), Wright was tearing through downtown L.A. near the Staples Center when he crashed his new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG into a Chevrolet Silverado just after midnight on Monday. Wright had reportedly been drinking at a friend's house earlier in the evening, but refused to take a breathalyzer test or a field sobriety test.

Photos of the crash haven't yet surfaced, and to be honest, we're perfectly fine with that. We don't need to see another fantastic, gorgeous sports car crumpled and ruined. It happens all too often.

As for Wright, he's been booked on felony DUI because the accident involved injury--though the driver of the pickup refused medical treatment despite complaining of pain. Wright was being held on $100,000 bail, though by now, his lawyer has likely posted the amount.
