The 2012 Range Rover Sport has been updated for European sale, and while we won't get all of the new features here in the U.S., we should get the core upgrades, including a new ZF eight-speed gearbox, a dual-view touch screen, and upgraded entertainment systems.

For 2012, the engine lineup in the U.S. stays the same, though the UK and Europe will get a new 252-horsepower 3.0liter diesel with reduced emissions. An eight-speed ZF automatic transmission is fitted to the new diesel to improve efficiency and performance, but it won't make the translation to the gasoline-powered models sold in the U.S. It comes with both a rotary gear shift selector and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. U.S. models will stick with the existing ZF six-speed automatic transmission.

In the comfort and convenience sector, the new RR Sport also gets a powered rear liftgate, WhiteFire wireless system for the rear-seat entertainment system, and, for the first time, the new seven-inch touchscreen DualView system first seen in the U.S. on Jaguar models after clearing a fight with U.S. regulatory agencies. The DualView screen lets the passenger see on-screen entertainment while the driver sees navigation or other driving-related screens.

An upgraded 825-Watt 17-speaker Harmon Kardon LOGIC 7 audio system is also available, and the Autobiography and Limited Editions get revised interiors with new design elements, including new interior and exterior color options.
