Pictured here in these latest spy shots is a prototype for the facelifted 2012 Kia Soul, which is expected to hit the market this summer.

Kia engineers have gone to great lengths to mask the changes to the car but from what we can gather there will be new head lamps and possibly a revised grille. Part of the reason for the new lights is for the installation of daytime running lights, which were recently made mandatory in Europe for all new cars.

The facelifted Kia Soul is also expected to be sporting revised bumpers, front and rear, and slightly revised tail lamps.

Not much else is known about the car but expect to see more standard features and interior trim options.

The engine lineup should remain the same, which means 120 and 140 horsepower four-cylinder units matched to either manual or automatic transmissions.

Look out for a possible debut at the 2011 New York Auto Show in April.
