As a two-time Formula One world champion and Indy 500 winner, Brazilian racing driver Emerson Fittipaldi certainly knows a thing or two about fast cars. He’s now applying that knowledge on a supercar being developed in partnership with Pininfarina and HWA.

For those readers unfamiliar with HWA, it’s the German motorsport and engineering skunk works formed in 1998 by Mercedes-AMG co-founder Hans Werner Aufrecht. That year it became responsible for AMG’s motorsport operations after Mercedes-Benz took the tuner in-house, and at present it fields Mercedes’ DTM efforts and develops some race engines.

The new supercar, called the Fittipaldi EF7 Vision Gran Turismo by Pininfarina, has been previewed in a teaser ahead of its debut this March at the 2017 Geneva auto show. Following its debut, the car will be available for download in the “Gran Turismo” video game series and there are rumors a small run will be built and sold to the public.

It’s not clear if the car is related to another supercar project at Pininfarina, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered model previewed by the H2 concept at the 2016 Geneva auto show and confirmed for production by Pininfarina CEO Silvio Pietro Angori at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

We'll have more details soon as the Geneva auto show starts March 7. To learn about some of the other vehicles appearing, head to our dedicated hub.
