Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] last month started taking applications for its new GT supercar.

We’re not talking orders here but simply an application that signals one’s interest in owning the car.

Each application is to be vetted by Ford to ensure the limited run of GTs—production is being capped at 250 cars per year for an undisclosed number of years—end up in the hands of true fans as opposed to speculators.

Applications close soon

In addition to a lengthy questionnaire, applicants are free to submit content outlining why they deserve one of the cars. This can be in the form of a video, and in this age of the YouTube star it’s no surprise a number of application videos are already online. Here’s just a small selection of what's out there.

The application process ends this Thursday, May 12. Ford says this is only an initial round and only covers the first two years of production, so 500 cars. This means there could be future application processes planned.

The first lucky customers should be receiving their cars towards the end of the year. The starting price will be around $450,000, according to Ford.
