"Every epic story has a great start," reads the tagline to Nitto Tire's latest piece of viral marketing. Apparently, so does every epic car.

What we have here is four and a half minutes of cars starting, and it's probably the best four and half minutes you'll spend on the Internet today.

Nitto compiled engine-start recordings from a variety of old and new cars for no apparent reason other than to make sweet automotive music. From the Porsche 356's flat-four to the Bentley Continental GT Speed's twin-turbocharged W-12, each car has a signature sound that's as unique as its driving experience.

The list of cars is pretty impressive, encompassing everything from classic muscle and sports cars to modern exotics, and even a couple of tuner specials. It makes for an interesting opportunity to compare some newer models to their predecessors.The cars were picked from Los Angeles's Peterson Automotive Museum, dealerships Lamborghini Newport Beach, McLaren Newport Beach and Vorsteiner, and the collection of Eric Breslow.
