Toyota has already announced two new eco concepts for the upcoming 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, the FCV and FV2, but the environment won’t be the only focus of the Japanese automaker’s stand. There will also be at least two performance-oriented concepts, an updated version of the hugely popular FT-86 Open and a sporty Prius C.

For those unfamiliar with the FT-86 Open, it is essentially a convertible version of the Toyota GT 86 (nee Scion FR-S) that was shown for the first time at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show back in March. Toyota is yet to commit to launching a production version of the FT-86 Open, but perhaps the showing in Tokyo may spur product planners into getting around to doing so.

Toyota says the concept was created to explore future sports car variations and that the new color, called “Flash Red”, gives a twist to the iconic red hues used on sports cars throughout the years.

The second concept is a bright yellow hatch dubbed the “Aqua G Sports”. Aqua is the name of the Prius C in the Japanese market and this concept version of the car has been fully tuned by Toyota performance partner Gazoo Racing. None of the concept’s specs have been released but Toyota has said a production version is planned, at least for the Japanese market.

We should have more details on both concepts once the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show gets underway on November 20. You can follow our compete coverage of the event by staying glued to our dedicated hub.
