Lamborghini is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2013 and has already run a number of events this year to help build excitement before the actual anniversary date on May 7.

The highlight of the celebrations will be the Grande Giro Lamborghini rally, which will see hundreds of Lamborghini owners from around the world drive their cars through Italy over a course of 750 miles.

Another event was Lamborghini’s official attendance at the recent Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, where this latest video from Jay Leno’s Garage was filmed.

The video is a must-see for any Lamborghini fan, as well as any history buffs. It features long-time Lamborghini tester Valentino Balboni, who tells the story of how he started working for the Italian sports car manufacturer and his love of the legendary Miura.

Lamborghini’s U.S. chief, Michael Lock, also makes an appearance, telling the story of the one-off Miura Roadster from 1968 and the latest Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster that went on sale this year.

If all that wasn’t enough, Lock also presents the 2013 Gallardo Super Trofeo race car, which starts racing in the U.S. later this year.

Note, 2013 is a bumper year for automotive anniversaries. In addition to Lamborghini’s 50th, Aston Martin is celebrating its centenary, Ford the 150th birthday of its founder Henry Ford, and Porsche the 50th anniversary of its iconic 911 sports car.
