Earlier this week part of our team including editorial director Marty Padgett, social media manager Joel Feder, and senior editor John Voelcker gathered together virtually via a Google+ Hangout on Air to discuss Tesla, the electric car company's Model S sedan, and the controversial review of the car on The New York Times.

Also under discussion was the outlook for the future of Tesla Motors [NSDQ:TSLA].

The discussion began by recapping the review of the Tesla Model S by the influential newspaper. The review ended with the Model S allegedly having a dead battery and being towed on a flat-bed truck. Tesla wasn't pleased with the review and quickly released discrepancies with it using the car's data logs.

The team moved on to discuss how this situation might have an effect on the rest of the automotive reviewing world going forward.

Later in the hangout, the team casted some predictions about Tesla's earnings call that was to happen a few hours after the discussion (full earnings report here).

The virtual get together concluded with a brief discussion on the Model S itself, and how impressive it is.

If you didn't happen to catch the discussion live, it's been preserved on YouTube for all of eternity for your viewing pleasure.
