On paper, the performance of the latest Corvette ZR1 and the Camaro ZL1 may be wide apart, but on the track, as you’ll see in this video, that gap starts to get a little hazy.

Taken at a recent track event at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, this video, uploaded by the guys at High Tech Corvette, shows a Corvette ZR1 in hot pursuit of a Camaro ZL1.

We get a cockpit view of the chase from inside the Corvette ZR1, which means we also get to hear the sweet sounds of its supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine.

The driver of the Camaro does a great job keeping his distance from the Corvette, but as the track narrows and the two cars face a series of tight turns, the added power of the Corvette helps its driver overtake.

While both cars feature supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engines, the Corvette ZR1’s LS9 unit benefits from a healthier 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque versus the 580 horsepower and 556 pound-feet of torque of the Camaro ZL1’s LSA.

At just over 3,400 pounds, the Corvette ZR1 is also considerably lighter than the Camaro ZL1’s relatively porky 3,750-pound curb mass.

Nevertheless, it's still great to see the two cars duke it out.
