The “Bond 50” Blu-Ray box set, which commemorates 50 years of James Bond films, goes on sale in London on September 24. To commemorate the occasion, Bond actors and actresses will use the Aston Martin DBS from Quantum of Solace to transport a golden briefcase containing the collection from Scotland to London.

The journey began on Monday, September 17, when seven-time James Bond star Roger Moore set the countdown timer on the golden briefcase before placing it in the Aston Martin’s trunk. The case will also be handled by actresses Britt Ekland, Tania Mallet and Eunice Gayson, as well as Bond villain Jaws, played by Richard Kiel.

In typical Bond style, 007.com explains that transport of the briefcase will also involve helicopters and trains, though, sadly, paragliders, miniature jet aircraft and Lotus Esprits that convert into submarines appear to be excluded.

Along the way, celebrity briefcase-bearers will stop at notable British Bond locations, such as Eilean Donan Castle (British Secret Service headquarters in The World Is Not Enough), the hills of Argyll (featured in From Russia With Love) and Stoke Park (where Bond golfed with Auric Goldfinger in, of course, Goldfinger).

Each location will get a commemorative gold disc disk acknowledging the role it played in the Bond films. One week after the briefcase left Moore’s control in Scotland, it will be carried into the HMV store on Oxford Street in London by Britt Ekland and Richard Kiel.

If you find yourself on Oxford Street next Monday morning, you may want to stop by to have your picture taken with the DBS, although we doubt you’ll be allowed to play with its Q-installed upgrades. If you want to follow the golden briefcase’s progress throughout the U.K., you can track its location on 007.com.
