At next year’s Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance, Carroll Shelby will be presented with the Automotive Lifetime Achievement Award, and to celebrate, five very unique and collectible Shelby automobiles will be sold at auction during the Saturday Night Gala.

First up is a 50th anniversary 1962 Shelby Cobra 289 continuation car, chassis number CSX8992. Built by Shelby American, the Cobra 289 features a tube frame chassis, fiberglass composite body, spoke wheels and a 289 cubic-inch Ford V-8.

Next comes a pair of 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 continuation cars, serial numbers CSX6063 and CSX6100. Essentially an updated version of the legendary big-block Cobras that Shelby built from 1965-67, the cars feature a stronger tubular steel frame than the originals, with strengthened alloy components, updated cooling and improved heat shielding.

If you’re looking for something more contemporary, the auction will also feature a 2012 Shelby GT-500 Super Snake, packing 800 horsepower from a supercharged V-8. If you want something less likely to kill you than these four Shelbys, the Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance will also be offering up a 2012 Shelby GT-350.

Proceeds from these sales will go to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, and each car is being built specifically for the 2012 Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance. While each will stand on its own as a future collectible, the cars will also include Shelby 50th Anniversary commemorative items, and we’re pretty sure that Carroll Shelby himself will be willing to sign the cars.

The auction takes place on Saturday, February 25, 2012, which gives you three months to hit the megamillion lottery before enjoying a Florida vacation in the middle of winter. If you need an additional incentive, the Concours will also commemorate the upcoming 100th anniversary of Aston Martin, and will coincide with the multi-day sale of the Milhous Collection, presented by both Sotheby's and RM Auctions.
