The dream garage. It exists somewhere for all of us, and we all have different ideas of the ultimate garage. But choosing a car these days is a tough prospect, what with the inundation of cars hitting the market. There are a lot of bad cars out there, but in the same vein there are also a lot of superb cars than there ever used to be, and choosing just one seems so hard. Even Clarkson said that there were “20 or 30 cars that he would gladly buy”. After all, if you were faced with the prospect of having to choose between a Lamborghini and an Aston Martin, you’d be hard pressed to turn your back on either one. And then with the beautiful cars taken care of, you’d still need something to take to the shops, such as an M5 or an RS4, as well as a car to go hooning about in (which explains the Vauxhall Monaro).

Clarkson’s Dream Garage:

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

Aston Martin V8 Vantage

VW Phaeton

Rolls-Royce Phantom

Corvette C6

Vauxhall Monaro

Porsche Carrera GT

Pagani Zonda F

Alfa Romeo Brera

Audi RS4

Bugatti Veyron

While all of those cars are amazing cars in their own purposes, it’s not often that you see a dream garage missing a prancing horse. The lack of Ferrari’s in Clarkson’s Dream Garage may be a subtle hint to the boys at Maranello that they are getting a little bit too complacent. It seems these days that for beauty you turn to Aston and Lamborghini, and for the best drive you get a Zonda F or a Carrera GT. The poster cars for this generation aren’t the F430 or the 612 Scaglietti, as Ferrari would have hoped, but instead we have seen the resurgence of Aston and Bugatti and a Vauxhall of all things.
