A renowned car collector has taken delivery of America's first Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. Benny Caiola received a white example of the all-wheel drive supercar this week at his home outside New York City.

The new Gallardo will take its place in a garage that has housed several historical greats also bearing the Lamborghini badge, including the Countach, Diablo, Espada, Jalpa and Miura.

"Lamborghini was the first to garner my passion for automobiles," Caiola said. "I've loved Lamborghinis my entire life and have owned nearly every model."

For the rest of the country, the waiting list to buy a new Gallardo is at least six months long, though those that have already ordered should begin getting their cars in short order.

Generating 560hp (418kW), the new model improves fuel consumption and reduces emissions by 18% over the old model.
