An eighth installment of the popular Fast and Furious franchise is set to debut April 14, 2017, and we now know who will be directing it. The new movie, tentatively titled Fast 8, will be directed by F. Gary Gray whose previous titles include this year’s hit Straight Outta Compton as well as 2009’s Law Abiding Citizen and 2003’s version of The Italian Job.

Gray confirmed his directing role for Fast 8 on Thursday, via Twitter. He replaces Justin Lin who directed the seventh movie but couldn’t sign on for the eighth installment due to other projects.

Fast 8 will be the first of a final trio of new Fast movies and will feature old faces as well as some new ones. Vin Diesel, who plays the lead character of Dominic Toretto in the franchise, first hinted that an eighth Fast movie was coming almost immediately after the debut of Furious 7 back in April.

Some of the information he's dropped so far is that the movie will take place in New York, and that it will feature Kurt Russell who played a secret agent in the last one. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Jason Statham are also confirmed for the movie, and some actors rumored to be appearing include Eva Mendes, Lucas Black and the late Paul Walker’s brother Cody.
