A new movie starring a Ford Mustang hits cinemas this summer. That movie is Getaway, which look like it will feature a Shelby-enhanced Mustang predominantly on screen.

The car is the ride of Brent Magna, played by Ethan Hawke, who is out to find his kidnapped wife.

Throughout the movie, Magna is tracked by the kidnapper, played by Jon Voight, and along the way he comes into contact with various characters, one of which is a carjacker played by Selena Gomez.

Yes, we’re also wondering who thought it would be a good idea to cast a pop singer as a tough, gun-wielding carjacker, though Autoblog helps provide part of the answer; Gomez’s character is apparently the owner of the Shelby Mustang so perhaps it was the act of having her car stolen that made her that way.

Here at Motor Authority, we’re focused on the car, which appears to be a Shelby GT500 Super Snake built prior to the 2010 model year. This means it’s likely to be packing between 600 and 725 horsepower.

Getaway premieres on August 30, 2013. The trailer above makes the movie look promising, with what looks like plenty of action, high-speed driving and suspense on offer, so this may be one worth watching.
