You may not be able to buy a new Lotus Exige to drive on your favorite roads, but if you enjoy the odd track day or are a serious motorsport competitor then the latest Exige is certainly worth a look.

Yes, it is possible to own the latest version of the Exige, the Exige S, in the U.S., but only in its Exige V6 Cup and new Exige V6 Cup R track variants.

The Exige V6 Cup is now heading into its second year while the more hardcore Exige V6 Cup R is new for 2013. Both vehicles will be on display this week at the 2013 Autosport International motorsport event taking place in the UK.

Both cars feature the same supercharged 3.5-liter V-6 found in the Exige S road car, though thanks to a stripped cabin and improved aerodynamics they should perform significantly better.

Unique elements include a full roll cage, racing harnesses, isolator switches, an FIA-approved fire extinguisher, tow eyes, a removable steering wheel and HANS-compliant race seats.

Peak output remains at roughly 345 horsepower and Lotus promises 0-60 mph times of 3.8 seconds or less.

The cars were developed by Lotus Racing, the motorsport division of Lotus the automaker, and will be joining their big brother, the Evora GT4, on Lotus’ stand at Autosport International. For more news from the event, click here.
