When Rockstar games released the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 last month, we accepted that when it finally hits the shelves some time next year, it might be difficult to tear ourselves away and do some work.

With the new announcement (via Gamespot) that Grand Theft Auto 3 will be coming to Android and iOS devices from December 15, we might struggle to find the time to eat our lunch, too.

GTA III was a real game-changer as far as console games were concerned, giving players the open-world appeal of Driver and Midtown Madness but with a greater feeling of being just a small character in a huge city.

That meant miles of 3D world to drive around and dozens of cars to... err... "acquire". It's a formula that's remained largely constant through its successors, Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV.

At only $4.99, Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition will also be a steal (no pun intended), given the hours of gameplay within.

It'll be available on a range of Android phones and tablets, as well as Apple's iPad 1 and 2, iPhone 4 and 4S, and iPod Touch fourth generation. A full list of compatible devices can be found at Gamespot.
