Take a good look at the stunning Mazda Takeri Concept that debuted today at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show as it's essentially a preview of the next-generation Mazda6 due next spring.

Easily one of the best looking vehicles on show in Tokyo, the Takeri features the latest evolution of Mazda’s ‘Kodo-Soul of Motion’ design language and is a test bed for several new SKYACTIV technologies including a SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine.

While the exterior of the concept shows a sleek and very modern design, the interior also has a decisively more upmarket look than current Mazdas. You could almost say it has a sporty driver-focused design akin to most BMWs. In fact, there’s even an iDrive-like control wheel mounted in the center column just below the gear selector lever.

As for the next-gen Mazda6, the new car will ride on a revised version of the front-wheel drive platform of the current model. However, thanks to the latest SKYACTIV technology, the platform will be lighter and more rigid.
