Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix

This weekend is set to be another scorcher for motorsports fans, with both the Spa 24 Hours endurance race and the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix taking place during the next 48 hours.

While we'll try to catch both races, our eyes will mostly be on the race in Budapest to see whether McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton will be able to repeat his performance during last weekend’s race at the Nurburgring and take home victory again.

Of course, Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso will be desperate for a win, as will the two Red Bull Racing drivers, Mark Webber and Championship leader Sebastian Vettel. Webber crashed out during practice today but his car will be ready in time for qualifying tomorrow.

The Hungarian Grand Prix is always a favorite on the F1 calendar, with the 2.7-mile long Hungaroring track’s narrow and twisty lengths always proving exciting. Passing is tough here but if anyone can do it, it will be Hamilton who has won two races here in the past.

Nevertheless, Vettel has a clear lead over his rivals in the Drivers’ Championship with a total of 216 points. This is a full 77 points ahead of second placed Webber and 82 points ahead of third placed Hamilton.

In the Constructors’ Championship, Red Bull Racing is the clear leader with 335 points, followed by McLaren on 243 points and Ferrari on 192 points.

Stay tuned for our full coverage of the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix and look out for the race results on Monday.
