Blue Angels Mustang GT

For the fourth year in a row, Ford has come up with a one-off vehicle for auction at the EAA AirVenture, which takes place in late July.  The car itself will be auctioned at the Young Eagles Auction during the Gathering of Eagles event on Thursday, July 28. Proceeds benefit the EAA Young Eagles program.

The aviation-themed Mustang GT was created to mark the 100th anniversary of naval aviation, and it features a paint scheme based on the color scheme of the famous fighter group that performs demos at air shows across the country. There's also a "Blue Angels" script and crest on the doors, and the crest is stitched into the leather Recaro seats.

Upgrades don't stop with the exterior--the 5.0-liter V-8 is supercharged and makes over 500 horsepower, and there's a Ford Racing handling package, a performance exhaust, and race-track capable brakes. The car will be on display at the Ford Hangar during AirVenture.

Previously, Ford offered up the Mustang AV8R, which fetched $500,000; the Mustang AV-X10 "Dearborn Doll"; and the Mustang SR-71 "Blackbird."

In order to participate in the auction, potential buyers will need to pre-qualify by calling the EAA Development Office at 800-236-1025 and speaking to Matt Miller before Monday, July 25.
