Does it make sense for a German luxury automaker to be designing and building cars in the U.S., not only for local sale but for worldwide distribution? According to BMW it does, and in its new ad for Super Bowl XLV the automaker highlighted this fact using the new 2011 BMW X3 as an example.

The first commercial is a poignant piece focusing on BMW’s economic commitment in America as told through the voices of staff at its manufacturing facility in South Carolina. The second commercial uses humor to showcase BMW Advanced Diesel vehicles as a cleaner, efficient alternative to other types of vehicles.

Interestingly, the new ads mark a return to Super Bowl advertising for BMW after a 10 year hiatus. Enjoy the clips below.
