Aston Martin's amazing One-77 supercar appeared out of nowhere and stunned the automotive world with its bold design and exorbitant price tag, which is expected to run in the vicinity of $2 million.

The current model doing the auto show rounds, however, is actually a prototype of what will be a future production version, and to further this end Aston Martin is currently testing a version of the car at the renowned Nurburgring circuit in Germany and a few other secret locations around Europe.

According to the exclusive British marque, the One-77 supercar has comfortably broken the 200 mph mark. In fact, in a series of test runs completed last week the car exceeded original expectations and recorded a 220.007 mph top speed in dry but windy conditions.

Handling and dynamic testing, including finetuning of the car’s bespoke 7.3-liter V-12 engine, is now scheduled to continue into the new year.

The One-77 is the ultimate expression of what Aston Martin stands for and will combine modern technology and design with craftsmanship and ultimate exclusivity to create what the automaker believes will be the world’s most desirable automotive art form.

As its name suggests, production is limited up to a maximum of 77 individually numbered examples, with deliveries expected to commence in mid-2010. For more information, check out our previous story by clicking here.
