Volvo has announced pricing today for its refreshed C30 T5 and C30 T5 R-Design hatchbacks, which come into the 2011 model year with fresh new styling and a new list of standard equipment.
The C30 T5 is priced from $24,600 while the sportier C30 T5 R-Design starts at $26,950. Both cars come standard with a powerful turbocharged five-cylinder engine churning out 227 horsepower and matched to a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Volvo C30 family sees significant changes for the 2011 model year. The entire front clip has been redesigned, including a new nose, front fenders, grille, headlights and lower front spoiler. The cars also incorporate a larger Volvo logo on their front grilles.
The biggest changes in the new Volvo C30 T5 R-Design are actually hidden beneath the skin. The car’s chassis has been modified in several areas. Stiffer bushings allow for more precise steering and the steering ratio is lower, giving 10% faster response to driver input. Spring stiffness has also been increased by 30% and the mono-tube dampers and roll stabilizers have been made stiffer.
