An American company by the name of Intermap Technologies Corp. has announced that it plans to create a hi-res 3D map of Western Europe. The mapping company will have completed Germany by the end of this year and should have most of Western Europe done by the end of 2007.

Spurred on from demand from government and automotive industries, these new maps will have major implications for navigational devices. What does this mean for you? In the near future GPS devices could feature 3D maps of the countryside, internet topography will have much greater detail and videogames will feature real-life 3D terrain.
