China’s Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp is about to launch its first car under the Roewe label in the form of the 750 sedan. However, back in 2005, the company purchased the specifications for the Rover 25 hatch as well as the 75 sedan, and a new version of the small hatch is likely to be produced in conjunction with the sedan possibly being labeled the Roewe 250.

Spy images have turned up on the Chinese Auto.Sohu Forums, which depict a slightly disguised test mule that closely resembles the old Rover 25. It’s rumoured that Roewe will be launching upwards of 30 new models over the next five years. The new small Roewe looks like it’s close to completion and a production model may debut alongside the 750 sedan at this month’s Beijing Motor Show.
