General Motors will unveil a new concept for its successful Hummer brand at January’s Detroit Auto Show. Even smaller than the current H3, the new concept will be called the H4 and follow in the lines of the Jeep Wrangler. Autoweek reports that a production version is likely to hit showrooms by the end of the decade, ahead of the release of the H3 pickup one year earlier.

Hummer is doing exceptionally well for GM in new markets and an expanded portfolio is exactly what the brand needs right now. GM does not have a suitable platform on which to base the H4 as yet, but sources say that it’ll definitely not be front-wheel drive. For its H3 pickup, Hummer will utilize the same architecture which spawns the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.
