The current-generation CLK is nearing the end of its model-life and, as a last hurrah, Mercedes is offering both the Coupe and Cabriolet versions with a new Sport Edition package. Suffering from the image of being the kind of car a husband would like to see his wife in, the CLK has been enhanced with what Mercedes-Benz labels “sporty and masculine features.”

The package includes lightweight 18in alloys, an AMG-styled bodykit and bi-xenon headlamps as standard. The vehicle gets a sharper front bumper and side skirts similar to those used for the AMG models. Further adding to the car’s new sporty image is the addition of perforated front brake discs with Mercedes-Benz labeled calipers. Completing the look is a large, chrome-plated exhaust tailpipe and a special rear silencer that provides a sporty exhaust note.

Based on the higher-spec Avantgarde models, the new Sport Edition gets an exclusive AMG sports steering wheel with shift paddles and leather stitching. Depending on the engine variant, some models will get Mercedes’ new 7G-TRONIC auto gearbox, which can shift gears up to 30% faster than a regular auto. Only available with Avantgarde CLK models, the new package will cost €3,332 including taxes.
