With the help of a lawyer, Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson managed to get out of paying a speeding fine because the owner of the car, Alfa Romeo, couldn’t prove it was Clarkson behind the wheel. The car was a V6 Brera coupe on-loan to Clarkson and was clocked doing 82mph in a 50mph zone by a west London speeding camera, reports the Press Association.

Upon receiving the fine in the mail, Alfa Romeo forwarded it on to Clarkson who then called upon celebrity lawyer Nick Freeman. According to Freeman, Alfa Romeo “did not have any information as to who the driver was. They only had information as to who the car was loaned to. The form wasn't completed correctly."

The case was eventually dropped and Clarkson, who wasn’t present at the hearing, ended up being awarded costs for his legal fees.
