Yet another carmaker has unveiled its strategy for fighting emissions, this time it’s Seat which is presenting the most economical and lowest-emissions model it’s ever released. The new car is dubbed the Ibiza Ecomotive and is set to go on sale early next year.

Official figures for the car’s CO2 emissions stand at just 99g/km, and the fuel consumption figure averages a claimed 74.3mpg (3.17L/100km). The increase in fuel efficiency compared with the already-frugal Ibiza 1.4 TDI, on which the new model is based, is thanks to a number of careful enhancements. New software has been added to the ECU, while emissions are further reduced through the fitment of a particulate filter. Furthermore, the gear ratios have been lengthened.

Other fuel-saving features include lengthened gear ratios, a more aerodynamic body, and a set of fuel-saving low resistance Dunlop tires.
