This is the first official image of the potent STI version of Subaru’s new Impreza WRX. We won’t get to see the car completely revealed until its Tokyo Motor Show debut next month but there are quite a few details we can gather from this teaser.

Clearly seen is the car’s new hood scoop and pumped fenders as well as the new front bumper, which contains a pair of fog lights and side vents. Previous spy shots of the car revealed an integrated rear-diffuser and a quad-exhaust tailpipe arrangement at the rear.

Most sources agree the new STI will develop up to 300hp (224kW) and 450Nm of torque from its turbocharged boxer engine. There’s no word if STI engineers will be able to match Mitsubishi’s new Evo with their own dual-clutch gearbox. The U.S. market is expected to receive a 2.5L engine while Japan and Europe will make do with a 2.0L mill.
