We’ve seen Ferrari auction off a number of its previous F1 race cars in the past as well as Porsche sell some of its Le Mans racers. Now Mercedes-Benz is set to sell one of its past race cars with the announcement this weekend of an auction for one of its original C-Class DTM German touring racers, a car piloted by Gary Paffett last year to first place at the DTM race in Oschersleben.

Proceeds of the auction will go towards supporting the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, a charity organization that funds social sports projects for children and young people. Any interested bidders must first send an e-mail to [email protected] to request a bidder card, reports Edmunds.

To help with the sale, organizers also had the hood of the car signed by various celebrities including Boris Becker, Franziska van Almsick and Niki Lauda. Officials have set the starting bid at €300,000 and the Christies run auction will be taking final bids on the 4th of April.
